Lockers Park is a day and boarding school for boys aged 7 to 13 with a co-educational Pre-Preparatory for ages 4 to 7. We blend forward-thinking learning with a traditional prep school ethos, supporting every child on their journey to becoming confident, high-achieving citizens of the future.
Set in 23 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire woodland, Lockers Park was founded in 1874 as one of the earliest purpose built preparatory schools. The inspiring learning environment endures to this day and we are proud of our reputation for being a school with strong results that continues to prepare boys for the very best British public and independent schools via Common Entrance and Scholarships. Recent graduates have moved on to Bedford School, Eton College and Harrow School, to name but a few – see Destination Schools.
Our ultimate aim is to ensure each child leaves Lockers Park a well-rounded, caring individual with a thirst, enthusiasm and energy for learning and life. Our emphasis is not only on academic success but on offering a breadth of opportunity from music and sport to design & technology and the arts to enable each child to grow and broaden their knowledge and life experiences. Alongside this, we take great pride in teaching and upholding traditional values of respect, honesty and tolerance.
We employ a kinaesthetic approach to ensure our pupils are highly engaged and achieve the best academic results. This ethos is underpinned by small class sizes, structured sport and outdoor play every day, as well as a focused and creative curriculum designed to inspire and motivate.
At Lockers Park, the welfare and happiness of the children is at the heart of everything we do: “The happiness of the boys is paramount” (Tatler Schools Guide 2016). As a school of only 160 children, we know every child inside out and work to ensure the Lockers Park experience fully prepares them for the broader world that lies ahead.
