Lockers Park Pre-Prep is a modern, light and well-resourced space, nestled in 23 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire woodland. It offers the perfect setting to allow children to discover new interests, develop a range of talents and cultivate long standing friendships. Our children are encouraged to explore, investigate, observe and discover in both the inside and outside learning environments.

Curriculum

Lockers Park’s creative curriculum allows us to instil the keystones of academic success through a range of different topics, both in and outside the classroom. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which contains seven areas of learning and development. There are three prime areas: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication plus Language and Physical Development. In addition, there are four specific areas of learning: Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

The formal Pre-Prep school day at Lockers Park runs from 8.45am to 3.45pm from Monday to Friday. Mornings revolve around the core subjects of Numeracy, English and Phonics which are closely linked to the National Curriculum. Afternoons are spent on cross-curricular and topic based learning – from understanding the seasons or looking at the human body through to exploring art and textures.

Lockers Park’s Pre-Prep pupils have two playtimes a day where they can choose to explore, make dens or play on the woodland apparatus. They also enjoy an hour-long PE lesson once a week.

Breadth of curriculum is broadened through the many facilities of our Prep School and the Pre-Prep children can use the Art Room, Design & Technology block, ICT Suite, Sports Hall, Swimming Pool, Assembly Hall, Drama Studio, Chapel, Library as well as the shared woodland grounds.

Our Pre-Prep children enjoy a healthy and nutritious lunch cooked by our School Chef. The menu is specially planned each week, underpinning our commitment to nurturing the whole child, encompassing mind, body and emotional well-being.
