Scholars attend the Winton Cup at Stowe School

Sir Nicholas Winton, famous for saving hundreds of Jewish children from the Nazis in the Second World War, was an Old Boy of Stowe. The school now holds an annual competition, The Winton Cup, that concentrates on the humanities – Geography, History, Politics and the History of Art. Mr Moubray took some of our scholars to this today. The boys were very interested in what they heard and had obviously learnt a lot from this visit. They found a talk by John Bercow MP, Speaker of the House, particularly fascinating. Mr Bercow told them about his life as an MP and also some of the challenges he has experienced in his role as Speaker. I suspect one or two of the boys might now be tempted to a career in politics. Many thanks to Mr Moubray for taking the boys and to Stowe School for hosting the event.
