Pre-Prep visit Kew Gardens

The Pre-Prep children have started their topic ‘The Rainforest’ off with a bang with a visit to the fabulous Kew Gardens! We were incredibly lucky with the weather and even managed to have a picnic over-looking the beautiful lake, surrounded by colourful tulips and a very friendly goose who fancied joining in with eating our sandwiches!

When we arrived we visited the Tree Top Walk where we all felt like the monkeys and parrots of the Amazon Rainforest looking over the stunning spring gardens. All the children were very brave as it was incredibly high. A visit to the tropical palm house saw the children looking for bananas growing high on the trees and exploring items made from coconuts and bamboo. We then enjoyed a tour of the Princess of Wales conservatory where we learnt about many rainforest plants including carnivorous ones! Charlotte, our tour guide was incredibly impressed with the children who joined in answering and raising their own sensible questions. The day ended with playtime in the Creepy Crawly House  where the children were busy climbing into plants and desperately trying to catch the flies in the Venus Fly Trap! It was a fabulous day enjoyed by all.
