Year 8 visit RES & West Herts College

With the first American shale gas to arrive in Britain arriving  today, the subject of energy and how we use it is of increasing importance to us all. Fossil fuels cause pollution and they are finite, so alternatives have to be found. In nearby Kings Langley RES, one of the country’s largest facilitators of green energy, have their Headquarters. Year 8 heard a fascinating talk about alternative energy – wind turbines, solar panels and bio-fuels. They also saw some of the technology in action. After this they went to the Kings Langley Campus of West Herts College where some of the students there showed some smaller scale technology in action. Many thanks to Mr Iqbal for organising the trip.
