Tomorrow we end the term with a sponsored walk. This year we are splitting the funds between two local good causes that both work with children – The Pepper Foundation and Collett School. To day we had two visitors, Gillian and Rose from the Collett School. Gillian is in charge of fund raising at the school and Rose is an ex-pupil and now a Collett Ambassador. Gillian started by saying how much of a difference Lockers support has already made to the Collett and then went on to explain where the money they received from the sponsored walk would go – to a new medical wet room that is vitally needed for those with medical issues. Rose then went on to explain why she became a pupil at The Collett and why she was there. I thought she was incredibly brave and articulate as she explained that her condition, Williams Syndrome, meant that loud noises had a physical effect on her, that she sometimes got very tired and even on occasion fell over and that her eyes worked differently to most people. You could have heard a pin drop as she spoke and she answered the many and varied questions from the boys brilliantly. I hope that this talk might just inspire one or two of our boys to go out and get even more sponsor money!
