Each Monday morning our Year 1 & 2 pupils have a Nature & the Environment lesson. Today they were thinking about homes for the various animals that live at Lockers Park. Several of these animals hibernate over the winter and need suitable places to do this. We discussed what “hibernate” means and what the animals need to do this. The children then constructed a fantastic mini-beast hotel out of twigs, logs and branches that they then covered in leaves. With luck our local newts and frogs will find the hotel and will have somewhere snug to go this winter. We might even have the odd hedgehog taking up residence.
