Autumn Harvest

On Thursday the Pre Prep are having their Autumn Assembly, so today we thought we would look for signs of autumn in the grounds. We found some apples – on the ground and in the trees. Interestingly, most of the apples on the ground had been partially eaten. We moved on to an oak tree and couldn’t find any acorns at all – just their remains. What had been eating them? It was the same with the sweet chestnuts, but we did find plenty of horse chestnuts – conkers. This led to the traditional autumn activity of conker fighting – though the children have to learn to smash other peoples conkers – not their own on the ground. Autumn and harvest is all around us – we just need to open our eyes a little more to see what is actually happening.
