Poetry Competition

The Poetry Competition is the culmination of work by the English Department this term so far. Every pupil learns a poem that they then recite in front of their peers and their English teachers. Two are selected from each form to take part on stage in front of a large audience. The standard of poems this year was exceptional and our guest judge, Emily Critchley, (author of “Notes on my Family” amongst other works) had a very hard job choosing the winners. Congratulations to Aleks, Edward and Freddie (who wrote his own poem “The Fallow Deer”) who won their respective age groups and to Edward who was the overall winner. Many thanks to our judges Mrs Sims, Mr M Phillips and Emily Critchley and to Mr Erskine-Naylor for compering.
