This is the time of year when you really appreciate the Lockers Park grounds, especially if you are a birdwatcher. Today our Year 1 & 2 pupils had a closer look at some of the birds nesting in our grounds. We started with a blue tit family nesting in the wall of the main building. We then saw a pair of nuthatches who were frantically collecting invertebrates to feed to their young hatchlings. On our walk we discovered a great tit and a woodpecker nest. We also had a close encounter with a sparrowhawk who flew very close over our heads. It would be true to say we would have seen even more if we had been able to be a bit more stealthy, something Year 1 & 2 find hard to do!
