Lockers Park is full of hidden little gems – you have to look really carefully before you find them. One of these is the school allotment, a donation from a boy who was leaving, John Halsey and his family some 10 years ago. This hidden gem has been in production ever since and is run by the Eco-Committee under the guidance of Mr Iqbal. Since the talk by Amy Zoo earlier last year we have banned the use of slug pellets and have gone for a more organic approach. What you might have thought was a wild jungle is the allotment doing its thing. Today was harvest time – heaps of garlic, beetroot and broadbeans, which will all soon be on the menu. Practical science and ecology in action – well done the Eco-Committee and Mr Iqbal.
