Saturday school is optional for boys in the Prep School (Years 3 to 8) and runs from 8.45am to 12.35pm.
The morning offers additional support in the core subjects of English and Maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, and innovative and critical thinking, very much in line with the demands of Senior Schools. It also provides the opportunity for interview practice, as well as for time across the many other facets of school life – Music, Drama, Art and Sport – potentially on a more individual basis.
For foreign students, EAL lessons are available on Saturdays to diminish the impact on missing key subject lessons during the core week. Saturdays are also used to take boys on trips to interesting places that highlight our cultural values. These trips are open to all boys and may happen during either the morning or afternoon, or potentially the full day.
The Saturday morning timetable is split into three one-hour sessions with workshops for all ages that support the curriculum and provide reinforcement or extension where required. ‘Termly Topic Overviews’ are provided on the Parent Portal at the beginning of each term so parents can see what each age group will be working on each Saturday.
Boys who attend Saturday school will be expected to be in school from 8.45am – 12.30pm and are required to attend all the workshops. Their attendance is managed via an online booking system and we ask that this is completed by Thursday afternoon if you would like your son(s) to attend that Saturday’s workshops.
